The teaser trailer for Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams, which was included in the PS3 version of the game, looks simply amazing. And I’m not being a fanboy at all in that assessment, really. Despite my initial thoughts that it was overhyped, Bioshock grew to be one of my favorite games of all time - and I simply can’t wait for the sequel. Which is, thankfully, an actual sequel and not a prequel (like Deus Ex 3 has turned out to be, though that may be for the best given the mess that’s left at the end of Invisible War).
The only thing I’m worried about is rushed development, given that the average game development cycle nowadays is two years and there’s been talk of Bioshock 3 (yes, it’s already confirmed that far ahead) being out in time for the movie, which is supposed to be out in 2010. Granted, that’s probably winter 2010, but it’s still pretty quick. Of course, with adequate resources, a game can be done properly in a year with no problems…we just have to hope that this will be that well done, and not an attempt to cash in on the popularity of the franchise. Personally, I have faith that they’ll do it right.

I need to get Bioshock.. Is it worth it?
I’d say it is, very much so. It drags just a little in the middle, but it’s a great game overall. If you’re looking for the PC version, it’s down to $20 on Amazon, I don’t know how it runs in stores - but I’d hope it’s not too much worse…much as game stores do tend to rip you off to the best of their abilities.
