Even Mr. Gates Knows

Written by Pacdan

That Windows usability is an epic failure. And that’s why I don’t get all this anti-Vista BS. In my experiences, Vista is more stable (not saying much), more compatible, and much easier to use than XP ever was. Why anyone would insist on staying with XP when, although it has it’s issues, Vista works far better is just beyond me. Anti-Vista is just bad hype from the Mac camp. It’s not perfect, but it sure is better, and I’m running the 64-bit version - which one would think would be even more likely to mess up and, still, no major problems other than Audacity being somewhat unstable, which is a known issue for the program. Oh, I mean it’s a bit of a memory hog - but this is Windows, what would you expect.

actually thats not completely true. Gamers are the ones who are having the big issue’s with Vista. I have friends who had to go back to XP because some games are unplayable in vista. Same machine with XP runs everything fine.
Its not as bad as it was, But still isn’t right.
The fact that it was hyped as being the next best thing for gamers made it that much worst.
I won’t go to Vista unless I have too. I’ll wait for Windows 7.
If the Linux people can get games to run right I’ll swap to that in a heartbeat.

Hmm. The problems I’ve been having with games have been mostly dual core issues, which are a pain in the neck, but I haven’t actually tried that many yet. I’m not really using it for a gaming machine, which means not doing much of any PC gaming at the moment, so I haven’t really run into problems in that department. I’ve got bunches, I just never bother to play them anymore. I have been planning on installing DOOM 3 and Alice, since I was kind of in the middle of both on the desktop and have transferred the save files - I wonder if I’ll have any issues.

I only just noticed that the latest two posts were Codeman rather than Dan, the reason the blog isn’t called Geek in Cyberspace. I was about to link this and say “via Dan.”

I haven’t posted about Vista lately, but I was surprised, after the reports of calamity, that it didn’t seem that bad, and in some ways was an improvement. I have yet to feel compelled to change the default UI to the 2000 look as I always did with XP (start menu & desktop, anyway). Ironically, I’ve gotten so used to Vista and the recently used programs on the main menu that I miss that on XP and 2000, even though I hated it originally on XP. I think they do the whole thing better on Vista, though.

    Baby calls, gotta go!

When I was using XP on the desktop, I actually got a hack to give it a Vista style start menu because I’ve grown to like it so much better. But…those posts weren’t actually written by Codeman, who is MIA at the moment, they were by me - the post author just came out wrong, see my next post.
