Seriously Efficient Programming

Written by Pacdan

Windows Media Player (11) takes 14 seconds to add a song to my playlist. 14 full seconds (I really timed it). Isn’t that just a little bit ridiculous? Add it to my long list of complaints with the program, it’s still not going to stop me from using it (at least not yet). Still seems totally ridiculous, though. Of course, it worked better when I was using a WPL playlist (rather than M3U), but when I let it use it’s own format it acquired this annoying tendency of switching tracks on my external hard drive for the identical tracks on my C drive. This didn’t cause a problem on the laptop, but when hooking the hard drive up to another computer the playlist was no longer pointing to the correct files - pain in my…

Of course, it’s worth noting that it’s partially my fault for having more than 1600 songs on one playlist, but even on smaller ones it takes way too long - especially given that this is a fast-ish computer.

I’m sure its scanning the song and adding it to a database in Redmond as you add it to the play list. So actually 14 seconds isn’t so bad.. And once MS has a list of all the music you don’t have licenses for they can turn you in at will.. :-P

And what makes you think I wouldn’t have appropriate sources for all of them, huh? XD

Oh of course I’m not saying that you have an illegal music. I’m simply saying that it could be an issue for any who do. I think I read recently that MS is considering putting an app in the Zune that will be able to check the license on any songs put onto it.. LOL ya that makes me want to go buy one.

How would you even be able to tell if it was taken from CD? Anyways, I thought they were trying to put in a filter to prevent you from putting unlicensed copies of NBC shows onto the Zune, which is equally silly.
