Emilie Autumn is an absolute genius. Enchant is the first CD I’ve actually bought in God only knows how many years. I paid $32 + shipping for the limited edition version on eBay and it’s absolutely amazing (no comments about more important things I could have bought with that amount of money). I already knew that of course, having downloaded it first, but it’s still much more of an experience to actually listen to it from the CD. I should rip it too, to replace my downloaded copies, which are only like 128 Kbps. The 40 page booklet is extremely cool and the whole thing is very nicely packaged, making it really seem worth that amount of money (see maybe if everyone put this much effort into their stuff, people would be more inclined to buy it). I also want to buy Dark Passion Play, since it’s just awesome and Moonspell by Persephone’s Dream, which I have two awesome tracks from(legitimately obtained from their site), but haven’t been able to find the rest.
I’m not sure a room ever actually gets clean. The only thing that cleaning an area accomplishes is uncovering more stuff that needs to be cleaned and, regardless of how large my bedroom (and house for that matter) may be, I do not have enough places to store stuff. Or, more likely, have too much stuff to store. I’ve actually started storing boxes under my bed, which is open (except for the supports) since the right side fell down and Dad had to put in wooden blocks to hold it up. I just hope my bed doesn’t leak. As a precaution, a lot of the stuff under there has been overlayed with plastic bags to protect it in case of emergency, although I just noticed the “Old Tech.” box hadn’t been. Doh! I’ve managed to fit about seven small-ish boxes under there and could probably get a few more in. I moved all of my old PopSci issues into boxes since I rarely go look at old ones, though it’s far less nerdy not to have them out in the open. I still have my 117-ish issues of Nintendo Power, as well as assorted EGM and Tips & Tricks, so that’s something left to dork over. It freed up so much space though, so now new magazines can actually (at least for a couple months anyways) be place in properly, rather than being put on top of the old ones, which was basically what had started happening before. I can’t believe the number of issues I’m missing, just because stuff got misplaced. I’ll have to grab stuff out of the car, which I know has 3 or 4 PopSci and at least one EGM. I got rid of the pictures of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles that were on my door as well. They were getting kind of dingy, but now the whole thing seems barren without them, especially since I also took off some of the Pac-Man related pictures at the same time. This leaves only my name, which is there just because it always has been, a picture of a Pac-Man arcade machine (geek much?), a picture of Mario’s head from the Super Mario 64-era, and the sailboat picture from elementary school art class, which has also seen better days but I can’t bring myself to take it down. Jay’s cool print I got during office clean-out has been put up on my closet, replacing the Statue of Liberty poster which had been there forever. I haven’t figured out what to do with the other print, which is slightly damaged from us smashing the glass the rest of the way out of it’s partially broken frame, but not in too bad shape. I just haven’t figured out what to do with it, especially since it’s completely unframed, the other one it least has a cheesy paper border, making it much easier to hang without damaging. That’s alright, I’m sure I’ll figure out what to do with it eventually, especially since it’s a rather nice picture.
Dad should be getting back from the retreat before too awfully long, and I need to make sure I go to bed on time, since tomorrow is an early day. Next semester, I think I’m going to try to schedule classes no earlier than 9, although it is nice to be completely done at 11 with my current Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule. Hopefully I’ll get my package tomorrow, although I basically won’t have time to touch it since I have (relatively) short Sci-Fi Science homework, CompSci homework (also like 10 minutes in all likelihood), watching The Island of Dr. Morrow for Sci-Fi Science, and the fact that Heroes is on (which is by far the most important of the bunch
). Given that I’m apt not to come home from Codeman’s until 2, that doesn’t leave me a lot of time to get everything done. I could come always actually come home promptly if I’m going to be that desperate for time, or at least not hang out for quite as usual. I also need to watch 300 so I can actually give it back to Codeman. I got about an hour into it last Monday before realizing it was time for Heroes and haven’t gotten back to see the end since. That’ll probably be left for Tuesday, since tomorrow looks to be pretty swamped.
You know, this was only actually intended to break up the post drought, not be the most gigantic post ever (except maybe the Nightwish review). I guess I had more to say than I originally thought.

I generally hated 8:00 classes, though it also depends on the subject, professor and location. I also liked being out of there by 1:00, so 8:00 was a tradeoff as you say.
My best semester (second best for grades) ever was 100% MWF, and six classes each day. I believe in that case 8:00 was US History to 1865 on Grove Street with one of my all time favorite profs. He was in charge of Canadian history, which IIRC they offered as a minor, and I almost decided to take a class in that (not the whole minor) for my second history requirement, he was that cool.
The trouble with 8:00, besides being even less a morning person then, was I typically would work until midnight. Maybe 11:00. Maybe 1:00. Add to that the closing time or the chatting with the relief time, and the commute, depending where I was working, and 8:00 could be darn early. But I’d take 8:00 over 3-ish on Tuesday and Thursday any time. In a class that ought have been excellent but featured a boring, crappy instructor filling in, who didn’t like me even without my tendency to decide not to stick around waiting for that class (the time would have been less bad if not preceded by an hours long break between classes). We didn’t cover half what we should have, and it’s stuff I’d have liked to cover. In the end he gave me a C when I earned a B, and was the only grade not an A that semester. It amused me later to show him how I’d programmed my Radio Shack PC3 pocket computer to compute present and future fixed and annuity interest factors based on various inputs, but while he thought that was cool, he also managed to be obnoxious.
Partway through the semester, it turned out that Sue Wall and another girl I knew were taking the same class with the same guy. She’d been in cost accounting with me and thought I was infallibly brilliant. I think the dude thought we were cheating or something, when we were all taking the final together in one room.
Funny thing about Sue is that she ended up being related to Darlene indirectly. I believe her sister was married to Darlene’s cousin, and so Darlene’s first cousin once removed through that were also Sue’s niece or nephew.
I feel the same way about cleaning, but you do ultimately find that there are times when things *really* get clean. Plus there’s a difference between clean and simply having lots of stuff to store and keep track of. Try adding small children to the storage challenge…
I can probably fit everything left from the old office into my home office, but the trick is in the details, and then in keeping it organized. All well and good to have shelves to the ceilings, until stuff starts falling down. Cool to have shelves suitable for stashing stuff, until you realize that the kids will swarm and remove, disrupt and destroy, and you have a lack of immune stuff to go on the copious low spots…
